William Petersen: There Will Be a CSI Movie

CSI fans take heart: A feature-length movie is in the cards, and it's definitely going to involve Gil Grissom, according to William Petersen.

"Yes, there will be a movie," Petersen told Britain's Radio Times. Although he is sure fans might be "a little trepidatious," Petersen promises the move to the big screen will not be done haphazardly.

"Usually people leave it till a series has finished —they did that with The X-Files and Sex and the City," Petersen said. "But it's about finding the right story, there has got to be a real reason to do it."

One of those real reasons? Grissom won't be around forever. "You don't just do it because you want to make money — you do it because there's a story that can't be told on TV and needs to be told from CSI's perspective and the audience wants it," Petersen said. "And we can't wait for CSI to end or Grissom will be about 90."

Petersen bowed out of the hit CBS drama after eight years earlier this season, handing over the reins to Laurence Fishburne's Raymond Langston. He had previously said his character's open-ended departure preserved the chance of a film.

CSI's ratings drop without Gil Grissom

Procedural plummets without popular protagonist; ABC wins the evening thanks to Grey's Anatomy's best night in a while.

Last week, CSI said goodbye to its beloved leader of eight-and-a-half seasons, Gil Grissom (played by William Petersen). This week, CSI said goodbye to about seven million viewers, as more than a quarter of the audience decided to not tune in following Grissom's departure.

Don't worry, CSI still topped the night in total viewers (17.5 million), according to The Hollywood Reporter, but placed well below the ballyhooed departure show that drew in more than 24 million. We'll keep a close eye on the show's performance with Larry Fishburne at the helm instead of Petersen.

With CSI down, ABC took the night ratings-wise thanks to a very strong performance from Grey's Anatomy (14.3 million, 5.6 rating/14 share among 18-49 year olds). Private Practice (9.6 million, 3.6/10) and Ugly Betty (7.5 million, 2.4/7) rounded out the winning night.

For Fox, Bones made its Thursday debut and held its own, attracting 10 million viewers and a 2.8/8. However, the numbers were down nine percent from its old home of Wednesday nights. A second airing of Bones in the 9 p.m. time slot fared worse, dropping to 7.5 million viewers and a 2.5/6 score. Hell's Kitchen is expected to take over the time period next week.

NBC's comedy block put it in third with the best numbers going to The Office (8.7 million, 4.6/11) and the worst going to Kath & Kim (4.9 million, 2.2/6). On the CW, Smallville (3.9 million, 1.6/4) and Supernatural (3.0 million, 1.3/3) stayed relatively steady, despite the latter's awesomely titled episode "Criss Angel is a Douchebag."

Next, who in god's name, cuts into my Bones time, an all new episode I may add, in an all new time slot, just to say "farewell" to me for about 20 minutes, thus causing Fox to drop Bones all together for the night, so now I must wait until next Thursday?!?!?! I almost drove down to the white house and drop kicked him in the face. Hold the phone, I just checked Fox's website and it says that we get 2 new episodes next week to make up for this week!! Holy awesomeness!!

Awesome NCIS this week, awesome Smallville, awesome CSI NY, awesome ER. Speaking of ER, yay, this week we got to see Dr. Corday! And Neela is still officially the biggest whore on television.

Also a little 'What were they on?' for Numb3rs last night. The black guy in charge of the security for the buses, was Doc from Third Watch, the main head bad guy, played Chuck (I think that was his name) on Early Edition, and the "cop's fiance" turned bad guy, was on Men In Trees, which I couldn't figure out and had to actually go IMDB her to figure it out.

My sweetie pie had to drive back to college today, so he won't be around to distract me this weekend, so I should get some stuff accomplished. My birthday's on Tuesday!!

Just got home this afternoon from visiting my boyfriend and the 5 hour drive there and the 5 hour drive home was just so much fun :-( I would say "never again", but I know I'll do it again, because I love him, but not for a long time :-P

But anyways, I missed all my shows Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night. But the Maryland vs. Virginia Tech football game was so much fun. Tho Chris and I made a bet on who'd win and I ended up having to buy him dinner. Chris also unfortunately has really crappy internet and I couldn't get any of my shows to play except Bones and Gossip Girl, so this evening and tonight is catch up time.

Here's what I've got to say so far...

-I can't take many more episodes of no glasses Danny before I pass out from a hotness overdose.

The Office: "Customer Survey"
-"Maybe because you spent the whole year flirting with the receptionist."
-Jim and Pam's mini bluetooths are really cute and I love my boyfriend and everything, but if we had those, it would drive me bananas.
-Angela and Andy are actually, really gonna get married at Dwight's farm? When is this whole wedding thing gonna fall thru and get called off? Because I'm ready for it to.

OMG, OMG, OMG! What's going to happen? I can't wait for Thursday. Oh that's right, I won't be able to watch it b/c I'll be at the University of Maryland vs. Virginia Tech game!! Say what!! I'm so excited! I'll catch it online afterwards. I'm also leaving my house late Wednesday night to drive down to see my boyfriend for his birthday. It's a 5 hour drive, so he's lucky that I love him so much, b/c I will also be missing Bones and CSI NY, just for him.

NCIS: "Nine Lives"
-You know I love me some jealous Tony. I would love to see Ziva find a man, just for a little while, then find her way back to Tony of course.

Smallville: "Prey"
-Someone's finally developing into Superman :-D And previews show someone in a cape next week!
-future Doomsday is pretty creeptastic.

CSI: "Art Imitates Life"
-and now comes the slow breakdown of Grissom
-Yay we get to play "What were they on?" The therapist lady on CSI was Dr. Corday on ER and last week, the creepy hypnotist lady on CSI was Dr. Abby Keaton on ER. They were both also surgeons on ER. So next week, I'm expecting to see Dr. Benton or Dr. Romano.

-As much as I love Danny, I’m not sure I can forgive him for cheating on Lindsay. I mean I wanted to jump up and rip his pictures off my wall, delete his pictures off my computer, delete him off my cell phone desktop, delete all my icons, but then I got back into the real life and I realized that he’s just a character on tv and that Carmine Giovinazzo is still gorgeous and I need to not overdo it.
-Stop it with the Stella drama please! You can’t do much more to that poor woman before she goes crazy.

-Erik thinking up the Dabu name was hilarious, “I could have said, Momo or Fo Shizzal.”

CSI: “A Thousand Days On Earth”
-For the first time in CSI history, Jen didn’t watch the entire brand new CSI episode. I’d rather watch an all new The Office, then another CSI without Sara, because it just frustrates me to no end, and then I just complain about it week after week after week. So maybe this weekend when nothing else is on, I’ll sit down and watch the entire episode. Until then…

ER: “Owner Of A Broken Heart”
-I’m sorry, was I watching Grey’s Anatomy instead of ER last night? Because I saw a threesome and sex in an empty examine room all in one episode.
-Who are all these new people?
-I can’t understand a single word that is coming out of this new man whore doctor. I already don’t like him.
-I hope Abby and Luka can work things out and end happy because I need a happy ending for a couple on this show… please.

P.S. Thank you tv for having me so engrossed in the all new shows last night that I forgot to email my boyfriend. *sighs* Life of a tv addict :-)

CSI: "Grissom’s Divine Comedy"
-Honestly, I totally wasn’t watching this episode very closely because I was on the computer doing other stuff.
-Since all I really do the entire episode is think about Sara, I really don’t pay much attention to the actually cases anyways. But that was totally Sara who called Grissom at the end of the episode.
-We got to see cute little Hank.
-And what happened to the scene with Catherine in Grissom’s apartment and she finds the pic of Grissom and Sara on his fridge? Well, I found the deleted scene on YouTube, if anyone is interested, don’t ask me why they edited it out.



America’s Next Top Model: "If You Can't Make It Here, You Can't Make It Anywhere"
-Katarazyna’s (and don’t even ask me how you actually pronounce her name) new hair is so much better.
-Loving Whitney more and more and hating Dominique more and more.

Numb3rs: "Black Swan"
-Everyone’s back and on screen within the first 10 minutes and together again at the end for dinner too. Waffles! Aww!
-Do you really thing Megan is gonna quit? I’ve heard a few rumors circulating, but nothing definite yet. She can’t leave! I will not let her!

-NCIS marathon on USA all day Saturday and it was the episodes pre-Ziva, so I had never seen any of them. The show is definitely better now with Ziva then that Kate chick.

Bones is really throwing me off by moving to Mondays and I’ve just got too much too watch Thursday nights. Why can’t I make my own tv schedule? I have no life on Fridays, move some shows to Friday please. So far here’s what I’ll be watching as April begins.
